Class description
There are lathes. And then there are Vicmarc lathes. Built in Brisbane, trusted by serious turners across Australia, the UK, the US, and beyond – Vicmarc’s reputation hasn’t been built by marketing. It’s been built by the machines themselves, and the people behind them.
This 2-hour workshop gives you something genuinely hard to come by: direct, unhurried access to Marco, Manager of Vicmarc, to ask every question you’ve ever had about the machinery before you buy – or before you invest further in what you already own.
Not a dealer. Not a distributor. The man at the centre of the operation. If you’re considering purchasing a Vicmarc lathe, there is no better place to start than here – asking the man responsible for making them.
A note on what this workshop is — and isn’t
This session is dedicated entirely to Vicmarc lathes and lathe accessories: the machines, their specifications, their setup, their add-ons, and how to get the most out of them. It is not a woodturning class. No tools on timber, no technique demonstrations. Just honest, straight-from-the-source conversation about the machinery serious turners choose.
Why does Vicmarc have the reputation it does?
That’s exactly the kind of question this session is built for. Whether you want to understand the engineering decisions behind the VL range, know which model suits your space and ambitions, or figure out which accessories are genuinely worth adding to your setup – Marco can give you answers that no spec sheet, review, or retailer ever could.
Vicmarc Products On Hand
Attendees will have the opportunity to view and discuss a strong selection of the Vicmarc range in person, including lathes from the VL series and chucks from the VM range, along with a range of lathe accessories. We’ll have plenty to get your hands on and talk through on the day. And if something specific isn’t in the room, no problem – Marco can speak to any Vicmarc product in full detail regardless.
What You’ll Get Out of It
This open forum is shaped entirely by your questions. Bring what’s been holding you back – the comparisons you’ve been running, the configuration questions you can’t find answers to, the accessories you’re unsure about, or the maintenance habits you want to nail down. If you already own a Vicmarc, bring the machine’s accessories along and get eyes on them from the source.
Thinking about buying? This is your chance to ask the person who builds them exactly what you need to know – before you spend a cent.
There’s no pressure to buy and no pitch. Just two hours with the right person in the room
Parking Information: Limited parking is available at the front of the building. We recommend using public transport as parking is difficult to find during the day if those spots are full.
Course Fee: The course fee gets you entry to the workshop PLUS a $10 gift voucher to use at Timberbits.com. Gift vouchers will be sent out to enrolled customers the week of the class.
Enrolment Process: Upon enrolment, you will receive a questionnaire via email. This questionnaire will allow you to specify what topics you’d like to discuss so that we can be fully prepared on the day.
