WHAT YOU'LL GET
You’ll get a full day of hands-on instruction with expert woodworkers in our state-of-the-art workshop, where you’ll learn workshop safety, Kumiko fundamentals, and master the ancient art of traditional Japanese precision woodworking. Working with specialized Kumiko jigs and professional-grade equipment, you’ll discover how to achieve precise angle cuts at 22.5°, 45°, and 67.5°, create perfect half-lap joints, and master the friction-fit assembly techniques that define authentic Kumiko craftsmanship.
By the end of the day, you’ll take home your own handcrafted asa no ha (hemp leaf) pattern Kumiko panel, along with the skills and confidence to tackle future Kumiko and precision woodworking projects. All materials and tools are included.
WHAT TO BRINg
PPE will be supplied however students wishing to bring their own should come with a face mask, safety glasses or goggles and earmuffs or earplugs.
Closed shoes are a mandatory requirement for all students.
Those with their own tools relevant to the class should bring them along to get better accustomed at using your own tools but we also supply all tools if you don’t have any.
We have a kitchen onsite with fridge and microwave for those that want to bring their own food, and there are also takeaway options within walking distance.
